AT HOME IN TAHOE
Our Tahoe Summer is coming to an end with cooler temperatures and foliage preparing to change. Fall is my favorite time of year in Truckee; most of the crowds have left and the small town feel starts to return to our community. It’s an ideal time to recreate outdoors and hit the local trails and campgrounds before the snow flies.
With the transition of seasons, I wanted to share a quick recap of our real estate market between Mid-May (when our Tahoe area had reopened to visitors) through the beginning of fall.
We watched prices soar 23% per foot in 3 months, with multiple offers and quick closings. With interest rates at all time lows and very little inventory, the demand for a home in Tahoe intensified and continues.
While the real estate market saw positive growth, the impacts of this year continue to affect many families and individuals. From the devastation in wine country and across California from the wildfires, to the parents juggling a distance-learning homeschooling with demanding work schedules, now is the time to remember to continue to have compassion for one another, to continue to spread kindness and to support one another in ways we haven’t before.

MARKET GUIDE
INMAN: Existing Home Sales Soar to Highest Rates Since 2006
“Home sales continue to amaze, and there are plenty of buyers in the pipeline ready to enter the market,” NAR Chief Economist Lawrence Yun said in a statement. “Further gains in sales are likely for the remainder of the year, with mortgage rates hovering around 3 percent and with continued job recovery.”
OUTSIDE: Meet Italy’s Favorite Bike Vigilante
For Brumotti, some things hadn’t changed at all during the pandemic. Armed with his bike, four GoPros, and a face mask, he was still pushing ahead a bombozza—“full throttle,” a kind of personal motto—with his mission of being both an entertainer and a social avenger on two wheels.

The Centenarian Olympics, a sport we should all be practicing.
INMAN: The Motel from “Schitt’s Creek” Could be Yours Soon
The Rosebud Motel from the award-winning Canadian show “Schitt’s Creek” is expected to hit the market in the near future. The small-town motel, where the Rose family moves after losing their fortune on the show, is actually a real-life property an hour outside of Toronto in Orangeville, Ontario.
